There were 1,129 players on the rosters at the during of the season and 914 on the final rosters. Fairport carried the largest roster with forty-one players and Spencerport had the smallest with sixteen. |
# 2959 2019 All-Section Five List Released For the seventh time and after a brief absence, Section Five Lacrosse leadership has selected first, second and honorable mention lists of All-Section players. The Most Valuable Player in Class A was Colin Peers (Fairport), in Class C, Sam Miller (Geneva), in Class D, Connor Fingar (Penn Yan) and in Class B, Jack LaRue (Victor). Players were selected on the basis of their performances in the Section Five Tournaments. |

# 2929 2019 All-Americans Announced *+The Head Coaches of Section Five recently considered players who had been nominated for All-American and All-Academic awards. The awards, sponsored by US Lacrosse, identify some of the best players from each area around the country. Each of the Head Coaches in the section is allowed to vote on each of the awards. |
# 2922 Geneva Wins 2nd Straight Title Geneva won their second back to back Class C Championship tonight against Wayne 10-1. The Panthers defeated the Eagles 13-2 last year. The Panthers were slowly plodding throughout the contest and added a few goals in each quarter. Midfielder Sam Miller was named the Class C All Tournament MVP after a 3g-3a day (60% of all goals). Additionally, goalie Brandon Wayne finished with an exceptional day, recording 13 saves. Of those, 10 came in the first half while holding the Eagles scoreless during that period. Both senior were instrumental in the success of the Panthers this season. |
# 2876 Many Mismatches Today, and Hilton Takes Out Fairport Thursday: DAY IN REVIEW: There were fourteen games played today and most were mismatches. Of the rest, Hilton, for the first time in program history, beat Fairport 9-8, despite a last quarter surge by the Red Raiders. The Cadets led 4-3 at the half and then scored five goals in the third to end the quarter up 9-4. The offense of Hilton was spread between eight players with Matthews Mojsej leading with 1g-2a. Ben Metrano, Brenden Howell and Michael Galante each added two goals while Clayton Duford recorded 9s (53%) for Hilton (8-3). Klay Stuvert and Colin Peers each had 3g-2 for Faiport (8-2) |
# 2871 Thomas Holds Off Wayne Thomas and Wayne played the conclusion of their match from April 16th today with the Titans winning 9-6. Thomas scored five of the first seven goals to take an early lead that the Eagles could not fight back against. This was only the second loss of the year for Wayne and first non-overtime loss. With tonight’s win the Titans break a three game win-less streak, including an overtime loss to Fairport last week. |

The Rochester city schools combined to form East United. With the changes and combinations, there were thirty-five teams and 942 players. # 1381 Week in Review: Week 5 There were rainy days but also a couple of days with sunshine last week . One hundred and eighty-one games have been played thus far. Webster Thomas (10-0) beat Penfield and Hilton to remain the only undefeated team at this point. Gananda (7-1) lost to the Greece Storm last week. Fourty-five (of seventy-three out of Section games scheduled) have been played. Section five teams have won thirty-one (69%). Victor, Thomas, HFL, Gananda and McQuaid Jesuit continue at the top of their leagues with undefeated league records. |

# 1369 Wayne Wins Sixth Annual Cradle for the Cure In the second game of the Girls-Boys Double Header of the "Cradle for a Cure" program, the boy’s of Wayne defeated Pal-Mac 17-9. This marked the sixth annual "Cradle for a Cure" matchup to support a local family and Camp Good Days and Special Times. The local fundraising/awareness event is currently in its sixth year. Prior to the Boy’s match-up, the Girls played with Pal-Mac defeating Wayne 20-2. The Girl's story can be found HERE. |
# 1285 All Greater Rochester 2017 The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle announced their 2017 All-Greater Rochester Lacrosse team today. The list features the top sixteen players and a number of honorable mentions were led by Canandaigua senior Attackman, Devin Andrews who was named "Player of the Year". Andrews, who was also a US Lacrosse All-American, scored 72 goals and 47 assists this year. The SportsFive Offensive Player of the Year plans to study and play at Stony Brook next year. |
# 1219 Wayne Wins on Cradle for a Cure Night Wayne hosted their fifth annual “Cradle for a Cure” event today and defeated Gananda 23-5. The “Cradle for a Cure” event began five years ago as a fundraising/awareness event after a local lacrosse player received a cancer diagnosis. Every year since, Wayne has hosted a multigame event with boys and girls lax with the hope of donating to both local charities and a local family in need of assistance. Earlier in the evening in the girls’ contest, Waterloo defeated Wayne 17-9 (HERE). |
# 426 Finger Lakes Releases Awards for 2016 The All Star list is out recognizing the Finger Lakes players for the 2016 season. Senior defenseman, Dylan Joy from Gananda was selected as Finger Lakes "Player of the Year". The "Midfielder of the Year" was Thomas Knapp from Wayne. The "Attackman of the Year" was Jon Ecker from Wayne and Wayne Head Coach Eric Carlsen was named Coach of the Year. Mike Denely from Bloomfield-Honeoye was named Assistant Coach of the Year and Mark Crane from Mark`s Pizzeria was named Man of the Year. |
